Boxcar variations, even before the move to China, are noteworthy for their differences. Greenberg's notes that there were six different basic body styles - Types V through X - that comprise the classic-series of modern era boxcars (from 1970 into the 1990s, American production). The differences include several varieties of rivet details, end plates, door guides, frames, etc. There are 12 different variations that have been noted in different versions of the 9200 Illinois Central boxcar, for example! The different Postwar cars have certain characteristics as well. It would take some study to determine exactly what has been added or deleted by the Chinese tooling changes, compared with multiple earlier versions that were made in the USA.
