I returned my damp one to Charles Ro...they are great about stuff like that. They just emailed and told me they checked them all and they are all damp. Everything inside the master carton was wet...(possibly salt water)...as the owners manual had staples that had thick corrosion growth on them. Ro is reporting to Lionel and waiting to hear back. Check your Turbines out!!

Thanks for the heads up Mike. When I pick mine up on Saturday I'll take a look at the manual to see if the staples have corrosion. Mine is coming via a distributor so I'm not sure if it is in the same batch as Ro.
More a faulty container........just as easy to happen in the back of a truck in transit across the USA. The 'China' thing is a tired argument.
Glad the seller is backing you up....the real issue here.
Yes, great dealer service. As far as the issue...could have happened anywhere in transit...despite country of origin. I did have the same problem with the recent Lionmaster Pennsy T1 Duplex from a couple years again. All dry outside...physically water pouring out of the plastic wrap around the engine. Orange box wierdly damp.
Just my experience.
Trains getting wet in transit is not a Lionel problem, it is a carrier issue. When I had a Lionel distributorship we received a truck from Mount Clemmens that had water flowing out the back of the trailer when we opened the doors. Lucky for us our orders were shipped on pallets and shrink wrapped so only the top and bottom boxes got wet. We lost a lot of accessories that were on top, but the worst of it were the ACL f-3's on the bottom. We lost ten sets. The trailer had so many holes in it that I am surprised we did not lose the entire load.
Regards,
Randall
It can happene anywhere. But in the present case it was only everything inside the plastic sleeve around the orange box that was wet. Master cart, etc..all dry. Had to get wet closer to the source. The master carton was factory sealed too.
Just my experience.
As our toys get more and more complex it just allows for that many more issues. All the issues you list can happen to items made anywhere. It's easy to fix....don't buy anything from China.....
Not me...
I buy nothing but modern digital trains and for me I have had very few problems. Just took delivery of 3 Lionel NS heritage units, all perfect.
Everything in our houses are mostly made in china or somewhere else overseas. So saying you will not buy anything made in china is just not telling the truth. who cares where our trains are made, if I like them I will buy them no matter where they are made.
