Gap between steps and trucks

It's a "semi-fixed" pilot. Unlike most O-Scale diesels, the pilot does not move with the trucks, but on the other hand, having the pilot fixed to the body of the engine would cause a great increase in the minimum curve. This is meant as a compromise. The pilot does not move with the trucks, but at the same time, if it encounters a tight curve, the pilot is sprung to prevent any issues.
