Hi I am FECguy and I just started posting here again after a 6 year hiatus.  I made an account here back in 2008 but I got busy with High School and did not have time for model trains.  Now I am a halfway done with College and I am starting to want to build a new layout once I get out of college and get a full time job.  Most of the equipment I own is late 90's-mid 2000's MTH but it is all currently in storage. If I build a layout again I really want to build a layout based off of CSX in the early 90's in Florida.  That will give me the chance to have a nice variety of equipment.  I would have to sell off some of my older equipment that does not match this theme though.  I still train watch and I was just in Folkston during Spring Break.

Welcome back and be advised that there is a model railroad club not far from Ocala at The Villages.  They have a train show several times a year at which they display layouts in all scales, including O.  I don't know if you have to be a resident of The Villages to belong.  Their next show is in August.

Also there are the Lions Club Train Shows in Ocala.  The next one is June 14-15th.

I currently live in Winter Park FL near Orlando. Unfortunately the Villages is nearly an hour away from my college.  If I get the chance I might need to check out one of their shows though.  Are there any Ogauge clubs in Orlando?

First, back to Ocala for a minute.  I forgot to mention the Ocala 3-railers Club.  I think they are still active.

Now, down here in the Orlando area there is not a formal group that I know of.  We have an informal group of O gauge enthusiasts but we only get together 2-3 times a year and we just had a meeting this past Friday night at the home of one of our group.  Not sure when we will have another meeting but I plan to host the Christmas get-together again this December.  Possibly someone else will volunteer to have one between now and then.

There’s the train show in Deland coming up on April 12th at which there is usually an operating O gauge layout.  That’s what made me think of the Ocala 3-railers as they have had their layout set up there in the past.

I plan to be there in Deland so send me an email at the address in my profile and if you go we can plan on meeting there.

Are you attending Rollins?

I actually do go to Rollins.  That is good there is some sort of O gauge community in Central Florida.  It feels like a lot of the people that are into model trains around here are mostly into HO and N gauge.  Unfortunately I am busy on that April 12th date.
