I picked up this little MTH N&W consolidation engine the other day being it was so cool and detailed it lured me in. This is my first MTH engine in a very long time and actually the only one i have now.  I only know how to use the basic DCS controls on the remote but its pretty cool so far.  I knew going in that these are not known for the greatest sound but I like smoke and the looks alone was worth every penny to me.

As most of  you know i also stink at cameras etc..  but heres some pics and a little video for those who are interested.

Nice video as well as one sharp looking loco. I've seen pics of your layout and it's beautifully detailed. What really impressed me in the video was the RR's right of way. The rail color looked right on as well as the grittiness of the ballast. The other thing was the distance between scenes. Seemed like the train was traveling somewhere and not a lot of clutter on the RR. Even the yard areas weren't jammed with rolling stock. Much like you would seen on the real thing. Great looking RR.

The smaller engines are what got me buying MTH.  The Premier 4-4-0 is also a great little engine and a crowd pleaser.  My favorite engine after the K-Line Shay is the MTH Climax.  You need to add a logging mountain LOL (I enjoy your layout as is).

I may have to get another and repaint to one of my local roads.

20-3310-1  -   2-10-0 Russian Decapod Steam Engine ♦ Pittsburgh Shawmut & Northern is another excellent / different engine.  They are still around at a decent price.

The H-9 and H-10 would be good ones also if MTH would reissue them.  I have the H-10 and it is also a favorite.  I would like the H-9 with a shorter tender. (and no anaconda cable)

That little 2-8-0 is a favorite of mine - I have the same basic engine, but an older Rio Grande version with Proto 2.0. The nice thing is that, unlike so many old-style locomotives in 0 gauge, it has a conventional firebox rather than a Belpaire, so you can paint it for any railroad without it looking like a Pennsy engine that got misplaced. The Consolidation is a perfect match for the Rail King 19th century rolling stock. I just wish MTH, or somebody, would make some more realistic freight cars from that era. I could build kits, but that takes a lot of time.

Patrick, I love your layout. Fantastic job on the scenery.
