The Veterans Engine in Railking is a Dash 8. I know the rules for Railking are more open than for the Premier Line but a EMD engine would be a little more realistic. Even if the Railking line does not have a mold for a SD60E a SD60 or even a SD70Ace would have been a better choice. Then again I do not buy Railking engines (or even MTH engines) so it is not a issue to me.

MTH did do an NS Veterans and First Responders SD70ACe/caboose speciality set (I think 2 years ago now) in the RTR catalog. People who like GEs and like the paint will buy them, as happens with most of these quasi-fantasy special paints. In my (limited) experience, folks who are buying Railking or buying speciality paints usually do not set as high a priority on rivet-counting, so much as getting a unified train.

While I can't order anything, a few things jumped out at me:

- There was definitely a play to the Pittsburgh-area market again this catalog; not only was there a Railking AVR SD45, but also a Carload Express MP15AC (which appears on the AVR occasionally) and the first Monongahela unit in many moons (Bicentennial GP38-2). Now if only MTH would reissue the black versions not done since PS2...

- The C40-8s are something I thought MTH was going to do two catalogs ago, and which I  welcome, especially the Pan Am units. However (that cursed word), I would have liked MTH to offer the NS units in the older Thoroughbred scheme, without the white cab fronts and Horsehead logo. It's been a while since we've seen anything in that paint, a mainstay of the 1980s.

- The Bradleys, as several folks have remarked previously, are intriguing.

- I'm surprised more people are not excited about the Premier UP/CP 4-4-0s or the DL-109s; I have seen several folks requesting both of these models. Perhaps, in the case of the latter, Golden Spike Fever has died down?

- The SD24s and the EMD Demo SD70M are also intriguing.

Very interesting to hear what will and will not be bought from this catalog. I myself have several pieces I want, and, due to money, will only get a few at best.

I had a chance to buy one of the Js in late 2017. I skipped it, and I regret it. I thought I would maybe order a Lionel version, but I held out hope for one from MTH. Glad I waited. I will definitely be getting one of the 611 models, probably the Spirit of Roanoke, and now with whistle steam.

I know many of you either have this locomotive or maybe don’t see a reason for MTH to produce it again. I, personally, am glad it is here.

A couple things of interest for me.

RailKing Scale Reading RS-3
Premier Southern Pacific SD70M
Premier CNJ SD70ACe (I only collect the Norfolk Southern Heritage units that I see in person.  I saw this last October sitting on the Rockville Bridge near Ebola Yard.)

Premier Illinois Central ABA E8 (I have the MTH passenger cars issued about 15 years ago but couldn’t find a matching MTH locomotive at the time.  Instead I bought a Williams AA E7 set which look and run great.  With the E8 set I can switch them out occasionally.)

Premier TTX High Cube Box Cars and a few other fright cars on the fence.

Still hoping for a Strasburg 2-10-0 or 4-8-0 and San Diego’s North County Coaster commuter set (They already have the tooling for locomotives and passenger cars.). I guess I’ll have to continue beating on Mike Wolf to get these done!

Of the items I listed, I may get all of them or none of them.  Past recent pre-orders are backing up, and as the Chief decision maker for THE PENN AMERICAN RAILROAD, I reserve the right to appropriate funds as I see fit.

And that’s the bottom line, ‘cause Traindiesel said so!

Well, along with striking while the iron is cooling, Lionel is offering accurate models of the 119 and Jupiter...  The only thing the Premier models have in common with the prototype is wheel arrangement and are just gussied up NYC 999's.  The RailKing Generals come across a little better.

Everyone is fawning over the return of the Big Boy as the anniversary event.  Also, UP/CP models really should have been available before the event.  It's not like the 150th anniversary was a surprise.

Definitely a Premier 40 foot PS1 boxcar in the pre McGinnis scheme and possibly the Railking Reading RS3, I'm not sure if The Reading painted the RS3s In that scheme. Maybe someone can help.

Hey Gene, I hear you on the RS3, it is my eyes or does the online catalog show thecpaint to be a flat green (not a bad idea really), ?  Wish it had correct headlights .

It would have been great if MTH did a powered WITH SOUND B-unit.

With the arrival of all the DCS powered A units I think MTH is done with powered non command B units.

Unless it is something that was designed as an A-B set for sale.

I think so too. Even the DL110s are non powered. Leaves next to no hope for powered Bs. I'd love to at least have sound and smoke in them.

At least 2 flats with Bradley’s

I too am in for a pair of the RK 40-foot flats (30-76807)with bradley's.  But wish they did them in desert-sand paint.  Will repaint one so.  Also disappointed that these bradley's are made with the TOW module deployed in active position instead folded down in transport mode.

Also something been requesting from Andy for years.  The 36-foot wood refrig  (20-94444) in "Schlitz."  Back in my day in home state we could drink beer (3.2) at eighteen.  Not long after high-school graduation my buddy and I stopped at the ZANZIBAR bar on Market St. for beer that were in-fact Schlitz in bottles.  Also in my home town we had a very nice amusement park "Idora Park."  There was a place called the "Heidelburg" where we late teens and early twenty's hung out to dance.  Same buddy and I were there having "schlitz" in bottles. So a must have.
