WM circus caboose for me. If I had the money, WM circus F3 ABA. Yeah, I'm a WM nut.
Any Milwaukee fan should be happy with this catalog.
Might pick up a couple Amtrak mail cars when they're released. Other than that nothing too thrilling. I've got a Lionel F40 on the way so the Genesis diesels aren't a big deal, though I may end up getting a couple Phase III Amfleets to go along with it. I find it interesting that MTH is doing so many road numbers/paint schemes for the dualmodes (P32's) when the tooling is clearly of the P42, though there isn't too much of an appearance difference. I thought at least one of the Phase V units would have a P42 number. I'm sure the Veterans unit will be a hit.
I am liking the Crusader as well as the UP Forty Niner. Beautiful. Also of note is the railroad station in "missed it by that much" Polar Express colors.
I'm in for the Veterans & Phase V Genesis along with the matching passenger cars. I've been waiting awhile now for the Phase V version.
Joe B.
I don't have any Genesis units with command control. Perhaps it's time to fix that
As the first person to put an O-Gauge Amtrak Auto Train on YouTube, I'm not too certain about the Auto-Train autoracks. Maybe it's a limitation of a catalog illustration consisting of a Photoshopped undecorated model, but those cars should really be a uniform silver from end-to-end.
For that matter the sides shouldn't be corrugated either--the entire side should be smooth, maybe with simulated perforations. Fortunately the sides already consist of slide-in pieces, so a new slide-in could be designed to make the cars visually like the real ones.

Well, they sort of got the 0-8-0 more right. But the S1a isn't a USRA locomotive! The tender looks a little more N&W-ish (it's still a flat top). And what does it take to get that stinking headlight centered on the door? At least the cab# is believable.
Oh yeah, wow, yippie woo-hoo, happy days, the N&W 49er is back. For the life of me, I just can't seem to find that on the NWHS website....
.
Nothing really except the Electroliner.
I might get a Wave Genesis and the blue comet hopper.

A Get Smart reference!! Awesome! One of my favorite shows.
I'm ordering the Mohawk. I can't believe they are doing it scale wheels! And this time I will be putting my order in right away, as in next week, so I don't miss out like last year.
My wallet escaped unharmed!! A U50 in SP might have tempted me......but I keep looking.
Another one-item catalog for me, making it two in a row. The RI bay window caboose is all I'll be ordering. That actually works well for me. There are some engines from the last couple years I wanted but they didn't fit in the budget. Now I can get them.
The AMTRAK auto carriers were built by Johnstown America. To make them right they would have to be made out stamped aluminum parts. The AVC or Automotive Vehicle Carrier model can be made in the USA entirely out of aluminum parts so that it is a true miniature of the real auto carriers.

The Chesapeake & Ohio BL-2s did operate on tracks in Michigan.
How long did the C&O BL-2s operate before being retired? Where is the roster information about that?
Andrew
The catalog states the premier edition of the M1B is the only O gauge diecast model of this engine, but lionel had a legacy one come out in 2008?
The Amtrak Genesis locomotive and the Norfolk Southern First Responders sets are the ones I would most like to get. I like the Premier version of those products the best.
There were still no EJ&E box cars and gondolas in the Premier or RailKing lines. That saves some people from buying now.
Andrew
For the love of god make all premier steam engines with smoking whistle.

The description in the middle of the catalog about premier steam would make you think they all do!
Amtrak Genesis' for me.
Amtrak Vets unit for me.
I would get a Phase V Genesis if they offered it in a P42DC or P40DC. The 700 series P32AC_DMs won't exactly match my Superliners or even look nice in a lash-up. I'm quite disappointed and won't be acquiring any. I'm not sure why MTH did this, as certainly a P42DC /P40DC road number would appeal to more people.
The Amfleets were a nice touch. I wonder where the rest of the Amtrak heritage units are...and the exhibit train.
I am in for a pair of the B&M 44 tonners! Thanks MTH!!
Just did some math. If I order everything that I want from the catalog, then it would add up to about $5,000! LOL! Not happening. In other words, I will be getting a veterans and two waves, the Amfleets and a baggage car, and no more. A very Amtrak order for me.

I hope to get:
2 Amtrak Wave P42 and the Veterans, CitiRail ES44, Amtrak Phase 3 Mail Car, ALL the husky stacks, CSX TTX flat car to go with the safety train, A bunch of the amtrak corrugated autoracks, for an auto train, a gondola, 4 pack of amtrak passenger cars, and maybe the MTBA Genset. Probably the best MTH catalogue I have ever seen.
Also, did anyone else notice the missing number board in the veterans SD60E?
I was also saddened by the fact that the description for these was the description from the ES44AC's!! It looks bad that nobody "proofed" this before it went to the printers.
What's the $100 difference between the RK and Premier aux tenders? I'd gather the RK are smaller, but $100 worth? And how would a RK aux tender look next to the K-Line Big Boy? I have the Lionel one for my VL BB which I'm guessing is the same size as the Premier one, but it's so big that I can't put it next to the K-Line BB. Can someone post a photo the the two sized tenders side by side please?
I've added the Norfolk Western 4-4-0 American steamer and Overtone Passenger Coach set as well as the Norfolk Southern Honor Our Veterans ES44AC diesel and action car to my wishlist. The diesel is RailKing, but the catalog doesn't indicate minimum curve on pg 38-39. The Premier version of the ES44AC on pg 96-97 requires O-42, so I'm hoping I can assume the RailKing version will run on O-31. If not, I'll need to rework my design for O-42 if I can and that'll mean I'll have to forego using ScaleTrax. I am considering shorting the long leg of my "L" shaped design so I can pull the layout away from one wall and have access around most of the layout. That might allow me to move to O-54 curves.
I like the 2 bay hoppers but will probably pass.

RailKing auxiliary tenders are bare bones and have a standard knuckle coupler. Current Premier auxiliary tenders are wired with a proto coupler on end for remote uncoupling.
Found some things I liked that I don't already have;
Q Type 3-Car Subway
Class F7 Hiawatha, missed getting this other times
GE ES44AC in Santa Fe
Milwaukee Road Boxcabs!!
Maybe the Center Cupola Steel caboose Erie and C&O
I'll wait until the GE 42DC is offered in the "Bloody nose" scheme. I have the wave already.
Mohawk and U50C!!
Does anybody have the link to download a PDF of the catalog for offline viewing?
nice catalog
just wish there was a tier 4 in there
How can they have a Tier 4 locomotive ready when they do not even have modern Trinity and National Steel Car freight cars built in the past 10 years?

That's the first thing I looked for, but I don't think they add the download link until later, perhaps to drive some traffic to the website.
EDIT: I stand corrected. Click the little top center carrot. That will bring up a menu with PDF Download as an option. Once it opens, use the menu, right click or hit Ctrl-S to Save As.
It's there, pull down or touch the tab in the center....
or I just right clicked? I forget now but it downloaded!

The same way Lionel could have American Flyer line SD70ACe's and ES44's and not have any contemporary rolling stock. The Flyer ACF cylindrical hopper are a 1960's design.

Thanks! That did the trick! I'd always downloaded straight from a link on their website in the past. And I didn't even notice the little top center carrot until you pointed it out.
If you consider the previous AC-6 (20-3025) cost $1399.95 back in 1998 (that's $2073 expressed in 2016 dollars) with ProtoSound and this AC-6 (20-3709) is $1499.95 with Proto-Sound 3.0, it's not a bad deal considering all the improvements that have been made. Of course, the existing tooling dies are at least partially, if not fully, amortized and would have some effect on determining the unit pricing and their return on investment. However, even with that, it's got to be entirely subjective as they are rolling the dice down the table and ask themselves; "How many more AC-6's can we sell and what should we charge for them?"
The Premier line needs a Thrall Car/ Trinity Railcar gondola from the 1980's to the present to match all these new locomotives.

I really like the black with red top Milwaukee Box Cabs. If MTH has made these before, how true to the prototype are they? I'm not looking to count rivets, but they look very accurate to me.
Also looking at the 60' Flat with the Maersk containers, which will look ridiculous along side my Lionel Maersk container cars.
Years ago, MTH made a specific set of smooth sided Santa Fe passengers cars with a special plated finish, the finish was beautiful. Shouda, woulda, coulda. The Santa Fe (ribbed) passenger cars in this catalog has a blub right below the Full Length Vista Dome car stating these cars feature Plated Bodies. Can anyone explain what is meant by this statement?
Also, is there an error or undocumented feature on the European Model of the SNCF 141P Mikado specifically the smoke deflectors? In the main picture, the smoke deflector on the right side of the engine is completely vertical while the left side has an significant bend to it. Are these adjustable or did someone make a mistake, or do I need to make an appointment with my optometrist.
Lots of items I would like, a number of items I really want, but only I few I have to have. Which seems to be about par for the last couple of years from MTH. As Mr. Lucius Best would say.. "I'm good, I'm good".
