Purchased new MTH Dreyfuss with PS 3 instead of waiting for Lionel down the road?

MTH has made them in both the 1938 scheme and 1940 scheme with the white stripes. Detail and paint is excellent. No guarantees on paint match. No manufacturers engines matches anothers cars. Also don't expect a new Lionel engine to match old rolling stock. Lionels paint changes every few years.

I can tell you my MTH PS3 Dreyfuss Hudson is probably the most beautiful steamer in my collection. I have 20-3522-1 and the matching passenger cars and I love running this engine as much as I can. As for Lionel making it, I couldn't say but you might be waiting a long time. If you have a chance to pick up the MTH PS3 one I would probably do it as you won't be disappointed.

If I could get 20-3523-1 or 20-3524-1 it would be a no brainer.  I am pulling my 1938 Lionel's with the 1940 style VL Niagara and they look very good together.  If it were that close with the white stripe MTH I would be pretty good with that.

It appears that MTH did well with this release.  I'm surprised the "Big L" has not finally decided to do a Dreyfuss.

Decided to go with the (20-3527-1 ) with the PT tender.  I feel better about this having heard from the people that responded.  Had to pay a slight premium, but want to help support this dealer in N.C.  This is my first MTH steamer.  I hope I am not disappointed.  My other steamers are VL and Legacy.

I have this unit in PS2 absolutely love mine, the passenger tender makes my heart go pitter patter! ....looks fine behind my Lionel cars...runs like a watch...you’ll be impressed.......especially if you never had a hudson with a pt .....it’s a sharp looking set.......Pat

Boy, was I disappointed.  Put it on the layout and the engine stopped in the middle of an 80" curve.  Can't go over switches.  It is the tender that is causing the issue (wheel gap) that won't roll through curves.  I am calling MTH today to set up an RMA.  I was hopeful that I would have it for my layout at Christmas.  MTH will have this, and still have my General with a bad smoke unit.  I can't send it to the dealer that over charged me to begin with because they do not do service and would send it to MTH anyways.  Oh well, we move on.  I have already lived and learned about this process.

Sorry to hear Bryant, I'm sure MTH will get that fixed for you.
