I have a new GP38 that is doing something odd. When I have the headlight, number boards and markers lit if I hit the smoke on/off button all the lights go out...

I have tried deleting and reentering the engine into the remote and did a feature reset - still does the same thing. Any ideas or do the new engineers like to ride "dark".

Thanks, Paul

I suspect this might have to be repaired.  I had a Premier Mikado that had a similar issues, except that the lights would flicker when the smoke unit was activated.   The train still ran, but it was disco time until the fix.   The engine ran well enough, and in my case when the smoke was off seemed fine.

Hopefully someone here can shed more intelligent light exactly what might be amiss under the shell.  Either that or it could just the the 'Ninja Train'...

When you say new, what model?  Is this PS-2 or PS-3?

So if smoke is on does the train function with lights and when you turn smoke off lights and smoke go off?  That would be a totally new symptom I have not seen.

I would do a factory reset and see if that works.  After that I would inspect it for miss-wiring.  If that was good, reload the sound file.

If this is a new PS-3, try the factory reset, and if still doing it send it in for warranty repair.

If this is PS-2 I can think of a chip on the board that might do this, but again I have never seen it.  G
