I recently ordered a new MTH Premier J-1, and I’ve been trying to find if there’s a hole for loading the whistle steam smoke fluid. Is it all front stack loaded, or am I missing something obvious? I can’t find an up-to-date manual showing if it’s just front-stack loaded or not. My locomotive is 20-3848-1. Thanks!

Try the actual whistle, my two mth t1s get loaded the the hole in the whistle itself
I just took delivery as well. As you know, the instructions are generic (useless) but here is what I found: there is a hole beneath the whistle, only accessible with the tiny tube they provide. Insert the tube, fill the neck with smoke fluid, and blow it in. The app contains the activation switch.
BTW; its a beautiful engine! Wish I could buy the C&O as well.
Forgot to mention that the smoke units are completely separate.
I at first didn’t see the funnel that was in the box. It sure was easy to overlook! I was able to insert it in the hole and add smoke fluid. It wasn’t the easiest to insert into the hole, but luckily I got it working. It’s a nice effect! Thanks for the help before I burnt out a smoke unit!
