Just wondering if anyone here has the new N&W J class from the 2015 catalog? I have the 20-3630-1 on order from the 2016 catalog which is the spirit of Roanoke 611. How is the sound and detail? I haven't got to see one of these new engines yet and after getting the new NKP 765 ps3 and enjoying the great detail and sound, I have high hopes for the 611. If you have pictures please post them.

Thank you

Brandon

I sold my older one to buy this one because I wanted PS3 and no curly tether.  Also, the drivers aren't darkened like my older one and now more accurate like the stainless steel drivers on the prototype.

I believe you are confusing the "side rods" with the "drivers", as the "side rods & main rods" on the prototype are highly polished, light weight, alloy steel (certainly not stainless steel), while the "drivers" are painted black, on the real #611.

The sounds are very good for MTH and it runs great.  There will be lots of great train action with this engine in my next DVD.

You know what, next time I'll do my research before I try to make a simple point and provide the pictures he asked for.

These photos are awesome. This may have not been a good idea now I really am excited.

Roger that video has great sound. Are those the new passenger cars as well?

Chris the 612 looks great do you have passenger cars for her?

Hi Brandon,

I have three trains made up for my J engines with cars from various importers. They are pretty good representations of trains from the early fifties. One is a Pocahontas, another is a Cavalier and the other is the Powhatan Arrow. I don't have a video of the Arrow train yet. The J on these trains is the earlier run MTH 611.

Hello Brandon, Those are all of the passenger cars that was offered with the N&W "J" set. 2 of the passenger cars I've previously purchase from a forum member several years ago..........rogerw

They all look great. I have a 8 of the Norfolk southern MTH cars on order with the 611. I want to model modern NS with 611 and 765 steam excursions. Thank you for your posts.

Chris what brand Powhatan cars do you have?

The whistle that is on the restored "J" is a Union Pacific steam engine whistle........rogerw.

Correct, which is a real shame.  I am as happy as anyone that she is back in steam but without an original "J" whistle (Hancock Long bell 3 chime) on her she just sounds off to me.  But that new offering from MTH is just beautiful.
