It appears the new SD50s from MTH are shipping out to those that pre-ordered. I should be receiving mine in the next day or two. Will post my impressions when I get a chance to put it through its paces. Anyone in receipt of this new release? If so would be great to hear first impressions of this new PS3 model.

I purchased my model at Nassua Hobby in NY. They are outstanding. Anyway, I received it today and my intention was to conduct an overview of the model, but it was a disaster. I received a "Check Track" and "Engine not on track" message. Sometimes the engine would respond other times nothing. Tried my other engines no problem. Will be requesting a return to Nassua and hopefully they have another in stock. If not it will go to MTH for repair. Nothing like a new model straight to the repair bench. Frankly, I shouldn't have to spend time troubleshooting a new model. Anyway, hopefully I will have a working model next week.

Well...I was able to listen to the sounds of this model when I was able to start it and must say the sound files on this model are excellent...finally. A PS3 model that sounds excellent. I noticed new cab chatter dialog, whistle was loud and clear and the engine noises where loud and robust. Disappointed the rest of the engine couldn't hold up to the sound quality. You won't be disappointed.

The pics I have seen so far look awesome.The thing I am most impressed about is that MTH actually put in the time to make the new model the SD40E instead of an SD50. I guess they are starting to go for more realistic looks. I order a NS version as soon as I got the email about them being shipped on Monday from Just Trains. It should be in tomorrow. Even though it is supposed to be a Christmas gift I'll see if I can make a video review.I am really looking forward to receiving mine.
That was a fast delivery of the SD50.

Well... I'm sending it back to Nassau and they are going to replace the model. However, I'm still very high on this model. I think MTH outdid themselves in this run. Will update when I get the replacement.
