This is a recent video (from Gawker) about Northlandz , the giant (50,000 sq.ft.) HO layout in Flemington, NJ. Yes, it's HO, but it's only 30 minutes from my house and I still haven't been there.

It's actually a promo piece for some kind of new Sony "Go-Pro"-like camera that I think fits onto the lens of a cellphone and if you follow the links to the Sony web-site you can see a little bit more of the views from the front of a train. The pictures actually aren't all that good. Looking at the cab-view video, everything in the distance is out of focus which is not a problem with Go-Pros or even my cheap $50 Mobius mini-cam. I'm not sure what Sony hoped to accomplish with this. Still, it got me thinking about Northlandz again. I suppose I ought to go. I've driven by many times in the middle of the week on my way to and from meetings, appointments, etc., but it never seems to be open. I guess maybe it's only open on weekends or holidays.

Amazing!

Beautiful 'Diorama!'

From the outside, the building looks to be a banquet hall.

I have been to Flemington, N.J., back in the mid. '60's, with a friend, because there was an auto. race track.

Thank you for posting this enjoyable video, I never knew of Northlandz, until now.

Ralph
