Nice looking set Matt... now you need another diesel to make it an AA set or perhaps kitbash some A shells and end up with an ABA; now THERE'S something few will have!

Ok so I have got a illuminated drumhead to replace the decal on the back as well as a flashing red led for the rear marker.. they should be here friday

Nice set. Since that's an FT, a B-unit would be a logical addition.

Non-Powered A unit on its way for conversion and currently looking at non powered B unit for conversion... this will make a really long train

Saw this set at the Greenberg Train Show in Somerset, NJ last weekend. This and the other diesel sets: Can. Pac., Sou. Pac. and the Rock Island all look fantastic; plus, they have  MAGNATRACTION on three axles that was not mentioned in the features listing!!!

 

Just a note:  Saw a Chevy CAMERO commercial last night, and it now sports  Magnetic suspension for " Added handling and GRIP on the road "  almost sounds like  a grown up version of  Lionel's  MAGNATRACTION !!!!  If I closed my eyes and did not see the car, I might have thought that I was listening to a Lionel commercial for it's trains. Now how about a video review of it? (Or even a regular review would be appreciated.) Thanks. Incidentally, anyone also pick up the addon ar set for this?

BTW, anyone know whether this is destined to be a limited edition / limited production set available only during 2014? 

Yeah, I saw the add on set last night and ordered it.. This set has a 10th anniversary sticker on the engine and inner doors on the cars... maybe next years will not who knows

yes but the release was not until Jan 1 2014... so they did not release it till 2014 they just had it in 2013 catalogs..

I got mine yesterday and ran it in our Christmas Village that is still up. I think this is going to be a very popular train next Christmas. I posted a video of the complete PE Streamliner. Here's the link:

But if you're gonna use these as 'head end cars'; you gonna have to change those trucks and add steam lines!

Thanks. Sadly it's only a temporary Christmas display. I love putting it up but hate taking it down. This is the month for taking it down. 

I just ordered matching paint so that I can make the non powered B unit out of one I snagged on the bay..

The way Lionel is cranking out Polar Express items, I'm sure an A as well as a B,

will soon be offered.

Beautiful engine. Just something about the Polar Express colors that really make it rock. I'm sure you are going to really enjoy it.

 

Non train visitors really identify with the Polar Express engines and cars. Most really get a kick out of it. I'm sure more than a few people got interested in O gauge and a layout due to the Poar Express items.

I was thinking the same thing Marty. The F-unit really looks nice in the PE livery!

I am  new to this site, and building my first layout for my son.  Would you know anyone that has built a lionel dissapearing train layout?  I am having trouble with the grade and cars derailing.
