I am starting a new project constructing a model of the Old Orchard Shoal Light House located off Staten Island, New York. It was built around 1890 and was washed away by superstore Sandy in 2012. Here are some pictures

Fantastic!
Roger hit it right on the head, simply amazing! Can't believe Sandy was 10 years ago already. I didn't know we lost a lighthouse. Merry Christmas to you and your family.

A truly amazing model, and a fantastic picture as well!
It looks right at home with the water in the background.
Another beauty Alan.

NIFTY... Sorry that blew away. Another historical structure type to hunt down , photo, and model around the coasts. Good thing you captured it, in what looks like a museum model, since it is gone.
Awesome artistic work Alan!
Tremendous craftsmanship!!!

Spectacular just doesn’t say enough, Alan!
No idea SI lost a lighthouse due to Sandy; hadn’t heard a word about that!
Mark,
The lighthouse had been a bonded and unmaintained for several years before Sandy hit. The only thing left of it after Sandy is the foundation. It is located on the south shore of Staten Island in Raritan Bay.
Wow
ABSOLUTLY FANTASTIC !!
Alan, the whole diorama is phenomenal! I like how you blended the "boulders" into the water with some paint. I don't think I would have thought of that.
Joe,
I do not know if you can see in the pictures but I painted the bottom half of the lowed docks with diluted flat black paint to simulate the high tide line. I had the most fun placing the rocks and doing the landscaping. The rocks are stones I gathered in the parking lot by the office.
