new sideframes on MTH GP40? | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

I went searching for the new playable diesel horns on MTH's site and also noticed that the sideframes on the GPs look more 3D than the old ones. The brake shoes appear to be set back towards the wheels more than before with better detailing. It's easiest to see with the silver colored ones on the SF model.

Anybody got an older one to compare?

I didn't want to clog up the other post with this.

They have improved over the years. Be careful, though, as some of the parts like the springs are plastic inserts. I've had to glue a couple back in.

Thanks Mat. I wouldn't have thought the spring would be plastic. Usually all diecast or real metal springs.
