Here are some of the first shots of my new diesel house kit. It is a model of a modern metal pre-fab structure. It occurred to me that there are no modern engine houses available in O scale. All are vintage wood or brick. This kit is a styrene model with pre-made center pieces and pre-cut siding and roofing. It is built somewhat like the real thing although the members are plastic squares as opposed to metal angles. When built, one cannot determine what the side bracing is made from and the squares are much stronger. It will be available in two lengths, 14" and just under 21" and single stall for now. The doors, windows, A/C units and soon to be finished roll-up door casings are cast in resin. While the walls are cut out for the modeler, there are no openings for windows and doors. The modeler must decide where they want them. That also means this structure can also be a small factory or business. The foot print is either 7x14 or 7x21. it is assembled with solvent and CA adhesive. It is relatively easy to construct but some accurate measuring must be done first. It is best mounted to a small 1/2" plywood base. The modeler can add an inspection pit if wanted. Availability should be in September of this year. Extra resin parts will also be available.
