New from MTH Premier ...Southern Pacific 50' double door box car...1970's and later scheme. Some of these cars are still in service today..hauling lumber to east coast places that cannot accept plate F cars.

The Southern Pacific double-door box car could be closely matched by using the body of the EVANS PRODUCTS double-door box car and replacing the plug doors with Youngstown doors.

Yea, but why go to all that trouble.
The actual model will be a PS-1 double door box car, with the roof walk, etc. Obviosly the roof walks were removed in later years. I could have gone with the Atlas modernized 50' box car, but at aboout 90 bucks a car for the Atlas....i decided to go with MTH which is only 70 bucks a car.
Honestly, 50' box cars dont sell that well...and its kind of a toss up as to which would sell better...the Atlas or the MTH. I just decided to go with the less expensive one.
The O scale Pullman style 50' double-door box car will look a bit different with the offset doors.

LIONEL still has not produced an authentically painted SOUTHERN PACIFIC exterior-braced 50' double-door box car.

How about doing that on the Atlas double plug door 53; box car. The doors dont open on the Atlas, but ts more detailed, and about the same price and I can get them in 2 rail.
I'll put in for it if ppl want it...
