I had an area of my layout that needed reworked. The track plan needed altered for easier operation and I happened to have this great tipple that my friend Sam scratch build in memory of our mutual friend who passed away.

Dave,
It looks great. Everything you have done on this layout is first class.
I think the oil terminal in the background needs updating and it would be my pleasure to help you with that.

Looks great Dave! I really like the coal loads. What are you using?

Dave,
Looks great and I think it is wonderful when we are able to incorporate tributes and/or local landmarks into one's layout that serve both as a scenic function as well as a meaningful historical reminder. Thanks for keeping us updated on your layout's progress.
Looks great Dave!
great work!

Alan,
The oil terminal did not make the transition. You would be the first person on the list to call!

Don,
I usually make my own with foam and blast media. If the media is too glossy, I hit it with a shot of flat black.
Thank you all for the kind comments!

Black Beauty? That's what I use. My loads represent anthracite, so the gloss works. Out your way where the bituminous is predominant, flat is the right look. The only issue I have with the Black Beauty is the tube shaped bits and the white and red/orange specks that I have to pick out with tweezers. My wife and I keep saying we're going to get out to Horseshoe Curve, so a trip to Mercer Junction is part of the plan.
Don
Don,
Yeah, you have to pick stuff out of the blast media but it does look good after!
Dave
I like that one a lot!!! You make it look so easy!
Dave...you have the gift my friend!!

What grit do you use? I use the fine, as it scales out to about chestnut coal, which was the most common. The larger grit would be more suited to larger chunks that might have been used in some steam engines, or older power plants or commercial boilers.

Looks great Dave!
