I have a brand new tiu and a older hand held. everything is connected correctly on the tiu. The tiu is powered by an wal wort and the red light is on. When I turn on the hand held it go to find engine and it can't find any of my 3 engines and they are within 6 inches of tiu. does the new tiu need to be programed to receive commands from the handheld the handheld woked fine with the old old tiu. help please. I try each engine one at a time on a seprate track.

Make sure the handheld is on the same version of software that the tiu is on. If different you will have to update the old remote to the tiu software version. Not sure what version of software your tiu has.
it is a brand new one with the new female connector on the same end as the wal wart plug in.
First off, can the remote find the TIU? Are they on the same software version? Have you programmed the TIU for DCS on all channels?
Just to add to guns post.... Press the 'read" on the bottom left on the dcs remote... does the read find the tiu?? yes or no? You should get a message something like" TIU #1 found with no AIU box connected..".
No use going any further until we find out if the remote & tiu are communicating with each other... if not nothing is ever going to work.
how do I find out if the hand held is talking to the tiu???
Ironlake... Press the read.. or try see if the remote can find out what version of software the tiu has with
Menu/System/ Tiu set up/ Tiu version.... if you can get that far the remote & tiu are communicating
The read is the easiest..
pressing the read yields no results, also when you turn on the power by powering up input 2 the red light does not blink. does that mean the new tiu is defective>

No... Try powering up input 1 (fixed 1 IN)
2 ways to power up a tiu... power to fixed 1 in or an aux power supply.
Remove any power that my be going into the Fixed 1 input. Then remove the auxiliary power from the TIU to make sure the TIU is totally turned off. Reapply the aux. power while watching the LED inside. Does it blink now. If it does your TIU is OK. Some TIU's will blink pretty quickly and you may miss the blink if your looking at your aux. plug and then looking for the LED. It would be nice if the next batch of TIU's manufactured would extend the LED through a hole in the top of the TIU. Looking through the vent bars will sometime make the LED look like it blinked more then once, when it wasn't supposed to ,if your head moves slightly and the vent bars block the LED.
all power off to tiu. next put in aux power plug while watching red light and it comes on full with no blink
Since it doesn't blink, it doesn't indicate having an address. You can't even do a TIU reset if it won't communicate with the remote. It may have slipped through production without ever being programmed and receiving any software. Before sending it back, I would try hooking it up to your computer and see if it will accept a software update. If it does, also update your remote. If it doesn't, I would try to exchange it for another one.
I am getting a refund for the defective tiu and no replacement as they are out of stock. Found another hobby store with a new one so purchased it and it is on its way. THANK YOU ALL FOR THE HELP AND HOPE THE NEW ONE WILL WORK.
