HI, I have a chance on buying a 21004 engine and a few cars. Cars aren't relevant, although the said engine and cars maybe belong to set #20315. If it is said set it is missing the key car # 969 rocket launcher. There is no track or boxes. There are also two other cars, but they are older cars with link couplers. Engine has not been tested, with no way to test it till I get it home. It is missing the motor cover for sure and maybe more. I will have to go check  it out some again.  I read that it was made in 1957 and that was all, maybe even uncataloged.  I can purchase this for less than $50 dollars. other than what I described, it looks in good shape. What do you think buy it or leave it?

Things to look for. The tanks below the cab are usually broken or repaired. The boiler front is usually glued in because the bottom of the boiler there splits and pieces break off. Make sure all of the motor is there, armature, brush plate, reverse unit. Make sure the smoker is there as well. Make sure the tender is there with all the steps on the corners. Look for melted plastic around the plug holes. Do not worry about sets without the boxes all you have are individual components.
