New to me LionMaster CP SD90 stuttering on track.

Our Christmas oval has been up several weeks. Running a postwar ZW with a Legacy remote. I have run both conventional and TMCC engines so far with no issues.

I recently picked up a LionMaster Canadian Pacific SD90, # 28254. Popped the shell yesterday and serviced the smoke unit, lubed the engine, everything appears to be in order.

Placed the engine on the track and it runs fine till it gets to one specific spot, then it stutters and moves on. I thought it was a signal issue so I ran it in conventional, same problem. Pulled it off the layout and grabbed a couple other engines, no problems.

I did a reset on the engine, it didn't help.

Thoughts suggestion on where to go next?? Thanks!

These were notorious for having the motor loose from the factory. Might want to check if you haven't already that the motors are tight.

Just as a matter of point, I also had a LM T-1 that would stutter if the voltage was too low. Check and see if the voltage isn't dropping at that point of the layout.

Try cleaning that spot on the track with a scotch pad. I have had some locomotives run OK on bad spots but some will not. Also clean the wheels and pick ups on your locomotive. Good luck to you. Nick
