Very nice video. You included a variety of locations, and they kept interest going.
One suggestion I would make is to reduce the number of scenes with the train whistling when it passes, and perhaps substitute revving up (or down) the engine sounds as the train moves across the scene, as though the train was starting to slow for a curve or to accelerate out of one. When you want to include the train whistling, you could add more variety this way: the Engineer would probably just sound two short when passing people, and the whistle signal for approaching a station is one long. But these are just comments, and ideas, not criticism. Nice work.
And the music selections were good.
Tom. Thanks, for the kind words.
I appreciate sound constructive criticism from a Professional. I agree, when I post process the videos, I do have “too much horn” in every clip. Almost like Blue Oyster Cult and “too much cowbell”.
What I need to do is record just a track of horn sounds. And then overlay them on the track as necessary for effect. Also, record the ramping up and down of the prime mover and add that to the clips as necessary.
I record with a remote shotgun mike because it keeps ambient sounds to a minimum but unfortunately it is directional and will only record sound in front of the camera. The additional engine sounds could be beneficial.
Thanks again, I do appreciate the comments.
