GE Clear Silicone Glue is NOT AN INSULATOR.

While trying to assure that my speaker was secure, I used GE Clear Silicone Glue around the edges of the speaker. I managed to touch the speaker terminals with the glue--thereby creating a short to ground. I verified this with my conductivity meter.

If you are considering using this product, keep it away from electrical connections. It may eventually become an insulator-- after it has had a very long time to cure.

Ouch!  I would think anything that still has moisture in it (not cured) would make for a fine conductor, even a wet noodle across the terminals would probably create a short (WARNING-DO NOT EAT WHILE INSTALLING PS2 ELECTRONICS)

I used hot glue and spot glued in 3 places instead of running a bead of glue around the speaker.  Didn't get any on the speaker terminals, but didn't consciously didn't try to avoid them either.

Ditto

I can't figure out why people use silicone when hot glue works so much better...and faster. I apply hot glue then give it a shot of compressed air to cool it fast.
