Thanks Gromet!
The pacific locomotives look cool! Is there a pre order deadline and is there a shipping date for the semi-scale pacifics?
Deadline is May 30th and shipping late 2015
Would anyone who is familiar with both Rail King Imperial and Williams care to comment on the differences between this:
(Rail King Imperial)
and this:
(Williams)
These are images from the O.P.'s website. They're small....very small and hard to see any detail. Prices are within $20 of each other.
I'm a a real fan of WBB, originally attracted to them because of the terrific sales of the past year or two on both their diesels and steamers. Simple and extremely reliable, albeit without all the bells and whistles (literately) of more expensive stuff. However those sales with the crazy low prices seem to be a thing of the past.
Charlie:
Thank you for posting. WBB are ALWAYS reliable. A little grease, a little oil and off to the races.
Do you know if Williams is going to the made-to-order business model, like others? Or will they produce enough so that if someone in June or later wants one they may be able to get through you via the availability at your wholesaler?
My question is one of curiosity. Regardless of the Williams business model, if someone wants one, I would order now.
If I may, to clarify for the prior poster (and it could be helpful for others that are thinking the same things he has asked)
Xrayvizhen : what you note is in fact the quandary that Bachmann (Williams) is in. The WBB unit is no fuss, no muss. It does what it is supposed to do. Pure conventional. The RailKing unit can be conventional as well, but you do have to do a lot of power/no power (or hit direction button) on the transformer to get the RK to go through some of it's functions. Can do these function a bit easier with a DCS.
So, if you are pure conventional, you have choices.
( Charlie - intent is to complement the thread and seek clarity on the item you advertised. You have great pricing and excellent packing/shipping. A good store from whom to purchase. )
Thanks.
K-Line semi-scale tooling, I presume?
Will the K-Line Semi-Scale Mikado come along, I wonder?
Great locos, great gearing, if that was preserved. Didn't even require a Cruise Commander - just a DC Commander.
The WBB Pacific, if it is indeed the K-line tooling resurrected, is a far better replica
of a USRA Pacific than the RK loco. The old K-Line piece was a scale model, not to
1:48, but rather to 1:58, most likely (their Allegheny was 1:58 and said so on the box).
No comparison, to me: the K-Williams is the way to go here.
Are there any decent photos of this locomotive available? I'm on the fence about this Pacific or a LC+ Mikado for my next purchase. I'm leaning toward the Mikado as I love the LC+ Hudson I have.
Does anyone know if WBB has the Catalog is on line? I looked but I can't find anything on there website. I couldn't make it to York so I don't even have a paper copy.
Williams is NOT doing a BTO system, BUT they are limited production to set numbers on Chuggington.
Here are the numbers;
Brewster only 480 made
Wilson only 480 made
Box car only 480 made
Hopper(B)only 300 made
Hopper(Y)only 300 made
Pass. car only 480 made
With over 24,000 TCA members alone and less than 500 pcs. made they will sell out!
