I am starting a new thread following this one in which I couldn't get the new Lionel Cab3/Base3 app to work on my older tablet (Samsung Galaxy 8" Tab A SM-T350).

As a result of a suggestion by H1000 I bought a $39 Onn 7 Tablet (Model 100135924) from Walmart.  It runs the Lionel Base 3 and Cab 3 app very well.   However it won't run the MTH Wi-Fi DCS app along with the new WTIU like the old one does.

The Onn 7 tablet (running Android 14) connects to the MTH network (like the Samsung does).  It will recognize an engine (like the Samsung does), but after you issue one single command to the engine you cannot issue another.  Tap away and nothing happens.  So if I set it to 10 Mph that's it.  It keeps going 10 Mph no matter how many times I tap on any other button.  Ring the bell as a first command the bell keeps ringing.  Turning off the power is all that will stop it.

Even when it does that it says the engine is active which means it's communicating, so maybe it's freezing?

Anyone have any ideas as to why the old tablet and old (2017) Android version runs the MTH app and engines and the new Onn 7 doesn't?

Thanks,

John

Will it respond to left or right swipes after it freezes? We have a 2023 model at one of the clubs and it works good.

I can't change screens when it freezes.  However, I didn't opt for swiping in the settings.  I opted for the 3 buttons on the home screen for the tablet instead of gestures.  Don't know if that makes a difference in the app.  It doesn't seem to matter in the Lionel Cab 3 app.  Buttons work, slider works, etc
