For all the New York Central Gurus

There was an experimental gold cigar band paint scheme (vs the normal white).  What locomotives did this get applied too?  The numbers on the decal sheet show 1608 (F3), 1754 (F7), 4047, 4055 (E8's) if the decal sheet is correct.

I have only seen a picture of 1608.  Are the numbers on the decal sheet correct and were there any others.

I have one picture of the 1608 but I can't post it.  I find no notations in any of my NYC books as to these locomotives having that paint scheme, much less any others.

Is there any more info out there?

I'd be willing to bet the the New York Central Historical & Technical Society have the information you are looking for. Have you contacted them, or at least checked their website?

Try searching the NYCSHS gallery, like HW had mentioned.

Personally, the gold cigar band on the E8A is nice although I would have kept the road name in white on the side.

Some good ones.
