Hi, All;

Just need clarification on one capability of DCS and the TIU.  Background:  currently running TMCC to control both conventional and TMCC engines. I'm thinking about adding DCS and ultimately Legacy.

I've read the 148 page DCS manual, but remain confused about one point.  I'm *assuming* there is not a direct correlation between the fixed/variable input and fixed/variable output.

The questions are: If I connect a TMCC PowerHouse brick to TIU fixed input 1, will the TIU still provide variable output on variable output 1 or 2 in order to control conventional engines?  And along the same vein, allow me to apply full voltage for command locos?

Or, for that scenario, does MTH assume that you'll use a variable transformer to vary the voltage for conventional (as in, use a ZW)?  I'm thinking the former, but noted that they say DC input power cannot be varied at the output.  (I *am* running AC only...).

Thanks!

No, you must have a power source as input to each TIU channel that you wish to use. You can, however, split one power source as input to multiple TIU channels.

No, the assumption is that each variable channel has a 22 volt AC input that is then varied within the TIU using the TIU Tracks from the remote's TR screen.

I don't understand what that means. However, while AC power can be input to any TIU channel, DC voltage can only be used as input to the TIU's Fixed channels.
