Just read on the Wall Street Journal website that the NJT commuter train that bumped the post was going 21 MPH when it hit. Twice the speed limit. So now what do they say ?? Faulty reading on the event recorder ??

Nope. Faulty Engineer!
Thank goodness the event recorder and camera on the cab car operated as intended.

Yes, and what is even more disturbing is, 38 seconds prior to the impact with the end-of-track bumper post, the train was at 8 MPH. The train then accelerated to 21 MPH within that 38 seconds!
Sort of a re-run on what happened in that deadly Philly wreck. About time the FRA or whoever takes a hard look at operator training and work practices especially after what has happened the last several years. Freight is replaceable, just get more from China, but lives are a different story.
