Watch as the 765 takes NS all the way to the CVSR instead of the Wheeling & Lake Erie this year! Who's going to be riding/chasing it in the next few weeks?

With sheer luck I ran into 765 today! I was headed home from a job interview and decided to stop at Bellevue to visit the NKP museum and lo and behold I heard a whistle. It was a wonderful surprise!

765 won't be taking NS all the way to the CVSR. The two railroads don't connect anywhere.
There is a route that works, however. It involves a few other railroads.
I was hoping to catch her going through Green Springs, but it didn't work out for us today. We will be there on Sunday, can't wait!
NKP 765 is now resting comfortably in the CVSR's Fitzwater Yard.

Actually that 765 did not take NS all the way. NS does not connect to CVSR. However CSX does. So I will let you figure it out from here.
NS connects to the CWRO.
CWRO connects to CSX.
CSX connects to the CVSR.
Done.
Had to look up CWRO. Route of the Crow, apparently.
(Not the only crow that ever flew the rails. The “Flying Crow” was a passenger train of the Kansas City Southern Lines that ran from Kansas City, Missouri, to Port Arthur, Texas, from 1928 until 1968. "Straight as the crow flies" was its motto.)
I believe CWRO is an independent railroad that only operates at the Arcelor Mittal Cleveland Works. So 765 had to interchange with 3 different lines within an acre or so?

CSX allowed a steam locomotive?
Thanks for the reminder..I have 3 tickets stuck to the side of the refrigerator that I forgot about.

I bet it was very different if you were on I-480 and seen black smoke going under the Valley View Bridge and didn't know a train went under it.
I thought the 765 was remaining as the 767 throughout the rest of the year?
It will use the 767 number only on the CVSR.
When on NS we have to display the 765 number because that is how she is legally registered in UMLER...RPCX 765.
Something to think about. The stretch of track owned by the CWRO which we used to move 765 was originally owned by the Newburgh and South Shore. The N&SS was the first railroad within the state of Ohio to completely dieselize back in 1947. 765 was the first steam engine in 69 years over those rails!
Trainwizard,
I will be riding along Saturday aboard #90, the former NKP coach perhaps as a car attendant. That was a another maneuver they had to make as #90 and #62 are located at Midwest across the street. I find the old heavyweight open window Pullmans to have a relaxing homey feel to them that modern coaches don't equal. #62 may be a bit nicer, but after all it is haunted.

Regardless of how it got there in the end for the majority of the trip the engine was on NS rails before going through the interchanges.
I will be riding tomorrow morning on the early trip. Unfortunately the "open air" NKP coaches were sold out when I bought tickets so I will be in the Parlor Car. Next weekend I might go out and chase it again.
Rode her yesterday...first trip out. Was great! "767" looked awesome with Mars lite installed and running . Will do this again, no doubt!
So how did they get there in the past?
