Every year in November the members of the Nassau Lionel Operating Engineers put a display of O Gauge and some Standard Gauge trains at the Levittown Public Library. It is always a huge success with visitors. My good friend is the Children's Liberian and she always tells me that in Sept and Oct people are already asking if the trains will be displayed soon.
During the time leading up to Christmas, many people get very nostalgic when they see Lionel Trains and we are very happy to be a part of that. The display is also a great way to promote our Open House dates the first 2 weekends in December.
We also do smaller displays in other Libraries across Long Island. They are always very excited to have a display of trains in the showcases.
Here are a few pictures of the display. If you live on Long Island, try and stop in and take a look.
