They really were not true Bi-Level cars but Hi-Level cars as all the revenue seating was on the second level. There possibly could have been some thought about building sleeping cars for the Hi-Level EL Cap by Santa Fe, but since the El Capitan was always an all reserve chair train, and the Santa Fe already had an all Pullman train in the Superchief, they probably nixed the idea, but that's just speculation on my part. The Santa Fe would eventually combine both EL Cap and Superchief trains into one. It sure would have been nice to have had an El Cap Hi-Level with Pullman service though.
