Nice dome car.  Actually, SS has a panoply of stuff coming out.  Good thing I am not wealthy, or I would get one of each and be single again after 33 years.

Too bad Scott does not offer a separate dome - I might be tempted to add it to my Sunset Limited string (Remember, I am 2- rail, so I can have a dome even though the real Sunset Limited did not).

After finishing my meeting with this builder, I was told these cars will be done in early December. We should have them right after new year. Everything from running tests to close up inspections, these are some of the best cars I have seen to date.

A couple of notes:

1. The highly detailed diaphragms are on all cars, both ends, 2R and 3R.

2. The tuscan color is to be painted all the way around the observation car.

3. The window tint was too strong in the sample, and is being pulled back by 50%.

4. The Dome is accessable by taking the bottom off the car. One can add figures if they wish.

5. 2 Rail cars need 56" Radius to traverse turnouts, or one will have to open up the side of a Kadee gearbox.

6. Did I say they were spectacular? They are. So enjoy them when they arrive. There will not be a rerun as this factory will not make these again.

Thank all of you for helping get the details right on these cars, Especially David Stein of Canada for pushing me to do this project. He personally called all the hobby shops in Canada to pole them. And Jason of Rapido, for selling me his highly detailed underbody pieces. And Jonathan Peiffer for drawing up each painting and lettering scheme.

Can't beat updates from the Mann man himself! Sounds like it's really going to be a great 3RS train set after all, especially with those fine looking FP-7's that were pictured in another 3rd Rail thread a while back.

My only concern is that the finish looks a tad dull, but that just may be the lot of the pre-pro models in the photos. I'd like to see one up close but this train is probably a little too "provincial" for gents in the local 3 rail club. More's the pity.

Pictures from any of you lucky owners would be appreciated.

I just blew up the photo on that website.  That has to be the definitive dome car.  The track sucks.  If this is the future of O Scale, then we have a lot to look forward to.

But Scott - does this mean you cannot do the definitive Zephyr, or Sunset, or Flagler?  The manufacturer will never do these again in any railroad?

 Bob,

I believe he means the CP Canadian will not be re-run. The others are all possibilities for the future. The SP Sunset Limited uses the same Budd extrusion as the PRR Congressional which makes that a very viable future possibility considering the Congressional has already been done by GGD.
