Even if so, normally if you address the engine by it's ID it responds appropriately.

This is a new twist. I would ask Lionel also. The headlight is powered off a small triac. If it is working in conventional, the triac must be good, so why the R2LC board doesn't send the correct signal in TMCC is unknown.
I had heard that too, but this is an LCRU2 unit not R2LC. The output is still AC I thought, even though there may be DC offset available.

The issue also is if you reverse leads and now it does work in Command, does that mean it won't work in Conventional (if the LCRU2/R2LC swap polarity of a DC offset when in command mode).

Really need an explanation from Jon, of what the output of the lighting circuit consist of. I also thought early F3 had normal bulbs. G
GGG, Folks,

I believe the output on the lights is 1/2 of the AC wave on TMCC, and full AC wave in Conv mode. If the LED is reversed with respect to the TMCC 1/2 wave polarity, it may not work; yet in conv mode where the full AC wave is delivered, it will.

The reason for this behavior(with lamps), is on TMCC voltages of 18v, you want to keep the 14-16 lamp from burning out by going to 1/2 the AC wave; and in conv mode, where the track voltage is lower to produce motion, you need the full ac wave to brighten the lamp.

Worth a try.

Speaking of that, I have a Lionel cantilever signal which burned up the GO (green) light and did a number on the light shield (unavailable). I managed to clean it up though. I reduced the 18vac to half wave with a 47 ohm resistor in series. On a Fluke true RMS, it measures 6.5 vac. Even half wave or a resistor to 9 vac was really too much and seemed to wash out the green dye.
