I just recently got started in model rail roading. Years ago I purchased an mth premier Norfolk and Western J steam engine with ps1  I never ran it much and storred it away. Now that I have retired I decided to take up this hobby.   When I tried to run the engine it was dead , bad battery, New battery didn't help. Any way I decided to upgrade to ps3. I bought a new tiu and dcs remote purchased a ps3 upgrade kit and installed it. Every thing worked fine when tested. Down loaded sound file and installed it with dcs version 5.0  All seemed fine, great sound, whistle, bell, coupler, smoke and it runs great. Only problem is head light and tail light stopped working.  The instructions say I might need to chain file PS3_2_steam.zip from mth website. I can't find the file on their site, and they wouldn't answer my emails  Can anyone help?  Thanks

Which model and did you swap out the original bulbs for the ones in the kit?  The tender light only comes on in reverse, the headlight should stay on.  Did you turn them off with remote?  Do a feature reset with DCS.

Upgrade kits should have the proper flash code in them now.  Only repair boards sent to tech have to have a code installed.

Or did you load a PS-3 sound file and flash code?  If you did that, that is why lights no longer work.  PS-3 factory boards are a 2 board combo and you can't use the PS-3 Steam flash code on a PS-32 board.

If you load a PS-3 flash code, contact me via e-mail and I will send you the correct PS-32 steam flash code.   G

I did swap out the bulbs. I also installed  a  ps3 sound file and the flash file . I didnt realize at the time that I needed to use ps2 files .  I tried to download ps2 files but all I get is a page of script or it freezes my laptop. I could download ps3 files all right . I hope my mistake is reversible.  Thank you for the reply.

I tried the remote, no results.
