I have most everything wired back up now.  I had intended to make it an all Lionchief+ afternoon, with four running, but both of my LC+ GP7s have failed (with the same malady, I will separately post if anyone else has the problem.)

Anyway, I still managed to get four trains running, and very fairly balanced: two MTH locos, two  Lionel LC+.  They're going to run all afternoon while  putter around/watch football in my workshop.  What a wonderful afternoon.  The trains are:

  • MTH RK NW-2 and calf: it a lovely loco set although I was surprised, its pulling the maximum number of cars it will, without wheel slip, up the curve (2% grade, 72"dia. curve).  Makes a reall groan when it spins is wheels, too.
  • Two Lionel LC+ steamers (the two big steamers) one was a Pacific, the other was a Hudson but both have been bashed heavily into scale models of smaller locos (a Prairie, etc) and have new tenders from stock.  Great locos.  At just ten and twelve scale reefers behind them, respectively, neither is near to what it will pull (either will pull over 25 if asked).
  • MTH Premier 2-8-0 and six shortened cars running on the topmost loop - my BEEPworld.  This is the only premium-grade loco I have that meets the criteria for BEEPWorld (nothing longer than a BEEP).  It is just a jewel of a little loco - I wish Lionel would make Legacy locos this small.  Anyway, it is pulling five shortened traditional cars (to meet the"no longer than a BEEP" criteria) and a bobber caboose.
