hello...i am new to this forum and have recently gotten back into the hobby. I recently acquired a T1 that was upgraded to tmcc and love the engine...i was running it tonight and all of a sudden it shorted out and I lost my railsounds and tmcc control. I have no clue about how any of this works...I have done some research and learned that there is a power board for the railsounds...It looks to have a lcru2 in it...the only other clue i have about the system is it said norfolk and western 806 in the towercom...I am not good with these electronics or what to replace but i would appreciate any help...thanks in advance - mike

This was upgraded with aftermarket TMCC or Lionel parts?
First off, if you lost control through the TMCC, it's probably not the RailSounds boards. The locomotive will run without those two boards installed, so you could simply try that without them and verify that's not an issue.
Are you sure this doesn't have the modular electronics with the R2LC and DCDR modules? How about pictures of the rest of the boards? If it's a 3rd party board like the TAS or Digital Dynamics, that would be useful information, and would change the corrective measures.
If you had the DD RS MB in the engine, you probably have the DD TMCC module as well. They use the R2LC from Lionel as the receiver and provide the motor driver functionality.
One question, does it run in conventional mode if you power up with the TMCC command base powered off?
In that case, I'd be looking at the TMCC antenna, make SURE it's not disconnected or grounded. What does the electronics package look like?
I would try to re-program to restore functions.
