had some problems where dcs could not find the engine
I decided to connect the outputs of the dcs to a test track
same result - power ran thru the test track but no dcs signal
Is this repairable or junk

repairable. Sounds like you fully troubleshooted this, but not posted fully?
Are you sure there's no signal? Does the engine start as soon as power is applied?
Did you make sure the signal is turned on for those channels?
Does the same set-up work with the other channels?
More information would be useful.
Version of the TIU, version of the software, and which two channels are you seeing this on? Are you getting voltage from the channels? Did this just happen, or is this a new to you TIU that has never worked properly?
It’s a rev L
Variable 1 and fixed 1
power comes on engine lights up
i use the ap, and on the variable channnel the app allows me to regulate voltage and but it won’t recognize the engine
I replaced some track and right after that I got this issue
the tracks I replaced have Been tested and Have voltage in them but engine cannot acquire dcs signal
I ran conventional on those new tracks for a test as well
I'd start by making sure you've turned on DCS for all the channels. MENU, SYSTEM, DCS SETUP, AON (middle key). You should get a "ALL INPUTS ON" verification.
John,
He stated that he uses the DCS App, not the remote.
So, navigate to the More... Screen. Then, tap “Advanced Features”, “System Settings” and “TIU Settings”.
Select the TIU and turn on the DCS signal for all channels. See if things improve.
OK, same operation, different keys.
Sadly I tried that with no avail
Triple check your wiring (if using PS2 engines) that the polarity is not reversed somewhere. Seems odd that it happened right after
"I replaced some track and right after that I got this issue "
So if you use fixed #2 or var #2, it's OK?
Is the TIU light on? Pretty basic I know. I have to ask.
Yes thru the variable
I am able to raise and lower the voltage thru the ap
So I know the tiu is working to some degree
how can I check to see if I had reversed the polarity
Yes the engine is PS2
the red wire terminal goes to the center rail.
How is the input connected? What is your power supply?
What does "yes thru the variable" mean?
I have the wires correctly wired
I am using a z1000 brick
diregard my thru the variable comment
how is it that the ap will allow the power voltage to go up and down
and I can run the engine conventionally
thru the variable in the ap
but it won’t find the engine via the ap
odd isn’t it ...
Engines should remain dark & silent until addressed if the tiu is putting out a good dcs signal. Even if they've never been added to the remote and I assume the app.)
Yes no unfortunately it is not
i guess I have to send to Mth

not odd at all. What if you parked 10 Lionel engines on a track (with a bigger power source). You'd probably squash the signal. You'd still be able to change the voltage.
I believe your comparing the connection between the app and the TIU, to the TIU and your equipment. Although the app is talking to the TIU does not guarantee that the engine is getting good signal, or the TIU is getting good response.
I'm not sure what level you are at electronics or what your good at. I can only start with the basics to cover what might be wrong.
I'm busy doing things in the basement. Others will help here.
I just smeared glue all over my just painted engine so I'm not in the mood to play riddle me this. Sorry.
Try the following:..
Try to access the engine from the app. Report your results.
Followed your instructions
it did exactly as you said
engine silent able to access ap
i may have listed the wrong output channels earlier
I am having no connectivity with fixed 2 and
Var 2
fixed 1 and variable 1 have no issues
how are you powering the TIU?
Via the Wi-Fi unit
you have to power the TIU with either fixed #1, or the aux input. If not, the TIU won't work at the track.
It is best to power with the Aux input, so if power is lost to fixed #1 for any reason, the other channels still work.
I would highly recommend you purchase Barry's book for better understanding of the system and to guide you going forward.
