I was at my dads house today and we went to run the trains and his Apple iPad says No Internet Connection on his WIFI tab in settings. This has me stumped because the tablet sees the MTHDCS Wifi but can not connect. I went to Forget Device and reconnected to it using the mth password (mthdcswifi) but the settings page still says No Internet Connection. I also held the reset button in on the Wifi unit to reset it with no luck.

Also checked all wires and there is a light on inside TIU unit. We did run the trains using the hand held remote with no problems.

Any help on this problem would be greatly appreciated.

I have a constant "issue" with my MacBook Air with the WiFi connecting constantly "dropping out" every time I stop using the MacBook. I have to "turn off" the WiFi at the top of the page, then turn it back on again, and I'm good to go until I put the thing back to "Sleep". I've contacted Apple Help, and short of completely "clearing out" the MacBook, which will cause me to lose EVERYTHING, there is nothing they could do.

It sounds like your WIU is in MTH mode. You verify this by looking at the little switch that says HOME/MTH. When the WIU is set this way, it is a closed network, no way to get to the internet, so any I-device will complain it can’t get to the internet because you not configured to allow internet connection. The app should still work...

I did check the switch on the WIFI and it was set to MTH. I also have  soldered the port to the circuit board as Gun Runner John has advised and this was done a long time ago. I do need to try connecting on a different device and see if the problem persist. Only trouble is my dad lives an hour drive away.

Its good to know that I am not the only one that has the MTH App briefly come on at start up and immediately shut down until I turn of my old iPad and then turn it back on. Then go to the more tab on the App then Upgrade tab and then press Restore in the upper right corner to get back to normal. This is starting to be the normal starting procedure for me.

I configured my MTH WiFi and the Lionel LCS WiFi to connect to my home network.  That way they're available on any and all devices, and since one access point of the mesh network is about 15 feet away, they always have a good connection to the network.  I also have Internet access when I'm connected to the WiFi application, and I don't have to tinker with my WiFi settings on a device whenever I want to connect to the WiFi boxes.

Is the iPad configured to auto connect to WiFi networks in settings?
