There are many dummies with Legacy memory

modules. The DD35s have 2 smoke units operating cuplers

and directional lighting. The SD80s have ditch lights that light

when the dummy is moving forward and oscillate when the

horn is operated but no sound. Dummies have featuries that

mean nothing like the SD80 with ditch lights.

It seems that some non-powered Legacy units come with a memory module, and some don't.

I have the F7 Western Pacific ABA Legay set from 2008, which has only one powered A unit, but the non-powered A & B also came with memory modules.

I also have the Canadian Pacific F3 AA Legacy set from 2010 which has one powered A & one non powered, and the non-powered A did not come with the module. I "E" mailed Lionel, and they replied back that this was correct......no module for the non-powered unit in that particular set. I referred to the fact that I had the WP set which included 3 memory modules, but they replied that the CP non-powered unit did not for some reason need one as it would only be running as a "lashup". The did say that I had to assign an engine number to the non-powered "A", and went on to describe how to do that in their "E" mail. (I also bought the powered Legacy "B" unit for the CP set, and it did come with the module. I guess some sets will include the module and some won't. I don't know how the distinction will be made.

Some of the non powered units use the RCMC radio receiver board and some use the R4LC radio receiver.  This way you can send commands to the non powered unit the same as you can with a powered unit.  Lionel wins with this one as the non powered unit does not need the tether.

These boards can be programed the same as the powered unit.  I just purchased the DD35 and the non powered unit does everything.  It is Legacy equipped (with orange module) with 2 smoke units, directional lighting and operating couplers.
