Looking for suggestions for decals for N&W tank cars.  In general, I am hoping to build a consist of tank cars pre 1970.  Painting them all black (what is the deal with the silver cars like sunoco?). I mainly find coal hopper decals (no surprise) but is there any issue in using them on a tank car? I am not a rivet counter but not an expert either.

Here are a few examples:, do you know of others?  These are all from the big auction site,  I tend to like the last one....

Suggestions welcome!

What are you trying to make, fantasy cars or something sort of prototypical? I'm not an N&W expert but I don't think there were many railroad owned and lettered tank cars post WW2. Any railroad owned tank cars in that era were probably used for diesel fuel for locomotives or M of W purposes.

I found these pictures but they look to be from the 1930's.

Thanks Kanawha and  Big Jim,  I was hoping to get something sort of prototypical and close to what might have been running pre 1960 when the tanks were still riding on a frame.

Looks like the decals I show above for hoppers are going to be pretty huge compared to what was really on the tank cars. My three examples above are not that close to any of the pictures size wise.

Here are a couple of shots of my replica N&W tank car. It's based on the Class "TA" tanker. I started with a postwar Lionel 2555 which is pretty close other than the brake wheel mount. I used the Champ CN-49 Open Hopper decal set but the Champ N-8 or Walthers O #74-06 White N&W sets would also work although neither of these two include the "capy" or "build" decals. All of these decal sets are hard to find these days but you might get lucky.N&W Tankcar Model 001N&W Tankcar Model 003
