Norscot 55142 1:50 scale CAT 777D Water Truck

 

This is a very nicely detailed diecast model of a heavy duty water truck used in mining and excavation projects.  The model was produced by Norscot Group, Inc. Built in 2005. This model could be used in a mining scene on an O scale layout. The model has colorful CAT graphics and details.

Yes it keeps dust down. I work for Caterpillar & in one of my previous jobs here, I was involved in designing the power-take-off gear in the engine, driving the water pumps used in these applications. To the extent, I still remember the work, these trucks keep the dust down in an efficient manner since many of the mine sites are located in arid areas & water is a precious resource. So they spray just enough to keep the dust down but not so much that the unpaved roads become muddy, which would require more maintenance.
