Rapido Trains has developed a reputation for delivering HO and N scale models of impeccable quality backed by superb customer service. Jason Shron, the company's owner, is a delightful person who, besides making sure his models and service are second to none, also enjoys putting a humorous spin on things. Here is a video in which he showcases the DCC and sound equipped version of Rapido's new N scale GMD-1, a locomotive which was originally built for the Canadian market although second hand sales have resulted in units finding homes on several US roads. Jason is an avid fan of Star Trek and he works that angle well in the video. This is clearly a man who enjoys what he does for a living.

N scale certainly has come a long way from the scale's early days.

Thank you for posting that!  I'll have to get a look at it later as well, when I'm home and can hear it better.

His videos are really fun - one of them is also available via Lionel's Tracks site (which is addictive!) about the VIA car he built in his basement!

Also, some of his other videos are fun, and sometimes the credits carry things like saying it was directed by Orson Welles and such.

I have no modern Rapido, but have plenty of the original N Rapido, when it was sold in the US under the Revell banner.

There is absolutely no connection between the Arnold Rapido of ye olden days and Rapido Trains.

I knew that there wasn't a connection at all.  I just like that a similar name is in N Scale again.
