Guys,

Who among you likes to completely strip off the old paint to make it look brand spanking new? This is quite involved! Craftmanship is involved it takes quite a long time.Do you keep the dents that have accumulated over time or do you pound them out? It is quite intricate and precise isn't it? Makes you wonder about all the craftwork done so many years ago. Nothing quite as good as the feeling you did this yourself.

For those of you who do this, this is a maddening labor of love! Keep up the good work! Now I invite you to show off some of your handiwork:

A Lionel 51 that required a down-to-the metal stripping. A little too shiny by some standards, but I like it....

Needed some mechanical help also, but now runs very well.

Stripping is really the only way to go. Sometimes, its the only option. I might have been able to save this black paint over gunmetal paint, what do you think? Naaaa.
