A local high school had their Prom at Union Station Chicago and they chartered a Metra commuter train to take them there!

Toy trains and working for the railroad are the furthest thing from a young person's mind on prom night...

WOW! I wish I had that option way back when. Boy I feel OLD!
That's a pretty neat idea. Everyone back safe and sound, no stragglers, no wondering where your kids actually are. Looks like they had a good time as too. (Of course, having the news show up to record your arrival at prom certainly adds to the overall atmosphere! )
That would have been quite an Prom!
That is very cool, and different. I am sure they will never forget it.
The Burlington Passenger Department in the mid-'60's was aggressively pursuing any passenger revenue possible, and put together prom trains for the high schools in LaGrange and Hinsdale, IL. They parked the trains on house tracks in the respective towns in the afternoon and the trains were ready for boarding post-prom. The celebrants danced in a baggage car, no doubt drank their secreted hooch, and partied all night long. The trains, if I recall correctly, went leisurely overnight and back to Savanna, IL. No deaths, no injuries! Nice.
