OK we have seen the Lionel Catalog. The next big release are the MTH catalogs. So what do you want to see MTH make?

1)Original Norfolk Southern Steam. They were around from the late 1800's until they were purchased by Southern in 1974. They ten wheelers and consolidations....the name alone ought to sell the engines.

2) L&N E-8

044

3) The Virginian EL2B's were the best looking Electric engines ever made.

4) A 4-4-0 Commodore Vanderbilt

Tinplate Suggestions

Ives made the 1134 locomotive in standard gauge in multiple colors. Ives 1134 had a smaller O-Gauge brother the 1122.

The many Ives Standard Gauge sets were offered in O using the 1122 locomotive. The Black Diamond, National Limited were O and standard gauge.

These could be produced in O-gauge. I think the Copper version could be a hit as well as the others. Even though Ives never made an O-gauge Circus set I believe that would be a big hit.

What do the rest of you want in the MTH Catalog?

Union Pacific Steam Locomotives:

4-8-2 (Grey or Black)

Then again, it's been easier on my wallet without these locomotives in circulation!

Your trying to make me go broke with those picks aren't you lol.

I would like to see the 4-8-2 first though

I was going to respond "more S Gauge." But I feel that's not the scope of this post. Because so much S is forecast, (notice I didn't say available.) I have severely curtailed my O Gauge purchases.

Very few things are on my must have list.

But I would want and buy Casey Jones' 4-6-0 #382. They could issue it with the long wooden coaches, and use those dies again.

Yes, I know #382 wasn't "his engine." It was an engine he was assigned at the last minute, but it certainly was the engine that he made it into legend with.

A range of Civil War Era trains......two 4-4-0 locos and 4-5 different freight cars. At a level of detail and price of Rail King......a 'Rail King Scale' series as such. SMR does the high detail stuff.....so create a line for those that would like a budget minded line of Civil War trains. Never to late to commemorate the 150 anniversary!!

Something along the lines of Micro-Trains CW line......

With Lionel's introduction of High Nose GP30's there is nothing else to want, at least not for me.

But of course it would be nice if someone would made a prototypical correct steam era Norfolk And Western cabin (caboose) car(s).  The only one's I know of Weaver made back in 2005.  I am SURE Mikey will not invest the monies.  All those Y's and A's out there with no correct cabin.  My Jawn Henry needs a tail.

The micro trains look odd for some reason.

But how about Bachmann in their On30 line. They already have some locos that are close.

I have both Bachmann On30 4-4-0 and they just are nothing like a Civil War era 'look' or type....and while our 3 rail track is not perfect gauge for War era trains it's a LOT closer than 30 inch gauge. Plus still no era correct cars with wood beam trucks like the N scale set has....why can N scale do it....but not O?????

I think the above set looks good......War era freight cars were a bit different than even 1930's era rail cars.

As long as we're doing pie-in-the-sky type dreaming, I'd like to suggest that someone put these demonstrators into their new catalog.  (I know I'm not the only one since this topic has been covered in previous threads many times.)

Please MTH..please.  I'll buy one of each.  I swear on a stack of DD40ax's I'll order 'em!!!

I mean, c'mom!  Look at this first one.   It's beautiful!  How many Wabash and Norfolk Southerns and UP's do we need???  Wouldn't be great to turn to the new catalog's Premier pages and see the words "And Now for Something Completely Different!"  followed by a picture of one of these!

I know what you are saying Dave and I know the on30 4-4-0 is not like a civil war version but it may be a good starting point cutting down new tooling that would have to be made.

The cars would not be that difficult to retool some of the other molds to replicate 1860's cars. Seems to me it could be done.

i have no faith in our 3 rail mfgs. Ever doing it.
