Honest men I feel bad that I have to ask you this but, I read Barry's book front to back and back to front and can't fine the answer.  By the way this is Sonny, that may say a lot, You know I have DCS, REMOTE, TIU, all hook up to 6 separate tracks, with 6 separate engines.  Now what ever I done, only 1 engine (subway) starts and runs fine.  THE OTHER 5 just sits on the track with lights on an all going through the cab sounds. NOW and on the remote I bring up the name of the engine an all I get is NO ENGINE FOUND, RF, an other wording I just forgot. This happens same too all the 5 engines. I tried everything, maybe that is my problem.  Can any one of you men help me out, You have in the past.  You know I think I have been on this forum since 2003.  Sonny

Sonny, I've been running model trains since 1941 and still encounter problems.  Did you make any changes since the last time you ran them?

After I finish waking up, I'll have to think deeper into possibilities.  First thing that strikes me, is the red light inside the TIU (do you have 1 or 2 TIUs?) lit?  I have at times inadvertently loosed the power plug for the wall warts that power mine through the AUX port, and get the results you are getting.

Is the subway powered differently from the rest?

Hey sonny. maybe this will help.    There are 2 parts to dcs. one is remote tiu communications. in other words does the read (bottom left on the remote) find the tiu? just press the read and let us know. tiu found or not not found?

The second part is a little more complicated, is the tiu actually generating a dcs signal. to test  . anyway one step at a time ..Does the read find the tiu?

I feel like a 90 year old just spank,an I desiredit,  I read my own thread.  Thank you men, NOW my tiu hook up worked once. then nothing. TIU all four channels powered by one z4000, (one side only) others by 2 now I forgot  the name of those bricks, and one 750 brick, TIU aux. powered by one750 brick. Now when I hit read everything all 6 separate tracks with engines start up all names on remote.  hit read get no trains found. Tried a separate 10ft track connected to fixed 1 tiu, nothing else on put mth engine on track, remote reads engine not found, etc. When I hit switch an fire up entire layout, all engines start up with cab chatter, hit remote for any one engine get engine not found. I'm going out to layout an do what Gregg said hit read and see what if says although I think I know.  Will be back with anything else you men my say..Thanks again.  Sonny

Hey sonny, try the read again and give us the exact wording when it comes to the tiu, Ex    it may say something like "tiu 1 found , no aiu box connected"  or tiu 1 not found. It may even say a different tiu number other than 1. If the remote and tiu are not communicating you're beat. no use trying anything until this issue is fixed.

Gregg. you are right. At first I had power on, got engines notfound,  etc., I then power every thing off.  Sat there licking my  wounds.  picked ;up remote, started in and hit read. TIU ONE NOT FOUND, TWO NOT FOUND; THREE NOT FOUND.  NOW what do I do in order for remote to find TIU ONE?  In Barry's book maybe.  Sonny

If your remote is looking for multiple TIU's, I suggest you just do a factory reset on it, likewise the TIU.  Starting fresh, the remote should find the TIU and allow you to add engines.  With the reset of the TIU, it'll be TIU #1 again if it's not now.  I have no idea how you managed to get multiple TIUs configured, but I think a reset all around to get things laying flat is the expedient course at this point.

We have to find out what number sonny's tiu is(are). Sonny  If you look at the top of the tiu there's a red led that blinks when the tiu is first powered up. The number of blinks is the actual tiu number. Sonny , power up the tiu and count the number of times the red blinks before coming on steady. How many blinkS???

there's only one thing left to try that I can think of. ..... tether the remote and tiu together with a phone cable. The curly one that goes between the hand set and phone base. Not the one that goes from the base to the wall outlet. Try the read again with curly cable (must be a 4 wire one).

double check the blinks... Sounds like your tiu is a one blinker. Reset the remote which will leave tiu #1 already added by default.   Cross your fingers for good luck.

Gregg & Gunner; I connected curly between tiu & remote. What came up on remote was my AM engine.  haven't tried any else yet. Also what page on Barry's book do I find this. I went back & forth and can't find anything about what should come up on the remote. OH yes thankyou og fan that was a very nice thread.  Sonny

OH BOY; it works with the curly. So far on my remote I put 2 engines on it and they started up , now this is on the test track.  It looks like I have to put each engine on the test track an add them. but as long as it's going to work that will be fine by me. You know I think I'll try taking all engines off of layout, except one fire layout up and see if that will add engine to remote.  Think so.  Sonny

Hey Sonny, that's great news. at least you can run some trains. . I don't want to get into taking the remote or tiu apart to check for loose transceiver boards. It's tricky and I already ruined a remote trying to take a remote apart.   yes your test track is an excellent way to add engines  one at a time. Good luck sonny.
