6-17662_2233Lionel has made some beautiful examples of this type of caboose in NYC, PC, & Conrail.  This NS caboose is the next generation of the model and I would love to have a Lionel.

I have the MTH rendition of this caboose, although incorrectly a full bay window, still a favorite of my NS cabooses.  How about a Lionel more accurate model of the prototype using existing tooling?20160327_19132820150820_131300

This caboose in my opinion would be a great reissue and reuse of the Lionel Bay window molds.  And you are right about it being the correct caboose.  This caboose is an ex NYC that became Penn Central and Later Conrail.  After Conrail was divided by  NS and CSX , some of the cabooses have resurfaced as switching platforms.  I also have the MTH version of CR 24040 as you have posted, even though its a great caboose with a lot of detail, the bay window is not prototypical to the real one that is seen working with NS in North East Ohio.   Hopefully Lionel decides to reissue this caboose using their highly detailed version and hopefully they will redo it in the NS paintjob but with the CR24040 number as shown below as this caboose is in use today and its cool to run rolling stock on my railroad that is actually being used today prototypically.   I already have the Penn Central and the Conrail and for sure would be ordering it the minute Lionel announces it.
