Thanks for posting, Big Jim. I wonder what the train speed was.
And what is "Commonwealth Railway"?
That line used to be the NF&D I think, or could have been ACL.
Commonwealth Railway had some nice looking locos when they first started, maroon and silver I think, now they're just ugly.
I doubt the speed limit is over 25mph thru that section of town.
I got stopped by a fairly long CSX train this morning coming into Portsmouth, with a load of container cars. I wonder if there's any connection because of that wreck?

Notice the LEad unit was one of the NS SD70M's heritage units. Hmmm... NO commenting on that yet?

Eh, it didn't look to be off the rails. Im sure some foamers are screaming about this on other platforms. Thank goodness the crew is ok.
...Talk about happening "in your backyard"!!!
And, if it DID have hazardous materials on board, not a lot of neighborhood time to react!
Sobering.
Speed limit is no more than 25. This is the route to a couple of major container terminals and Chessie and NS keep things busy, especially at night.
No, nobody dreamed that there would be this kind of volume when things were originally built. Talk about traffic tie ups... we have them and there are not many overpasses/bridges. On the positive side, major warehouse complexes are being built with a lot of investment and jobs.
