CLICK HERE TO SEE THE MASSIVE DERAILMENT!
One truck of a single locomotive derails and it's front page news. Must be a slow news day around here.

Good excuse to stop by the original Quaker Steak & Lube for some wings.

Thats what i call gripping, edge of your seat journalism
Gentlemen,
This is a great example of how our news media today exaggerates just about everything they can. When I was a kid this incident would have been written up as a traffic jam due to the railroad, or not even covered at all.

What's with the picture of the pass cars almost turned over at the beginning of the video?
Seems like I saw a crew drive one like that back onto the tracks...some kind of timbers, etc. properly spaced.

Looks like a stock photo for any derailment/crash believe I have seen it before
That was news? Uhhhh boy...
Last line is interesting.
"The train was supposed to be heading to Youngstown."
As if the train deliberately derailed so it could stay out of Youngstown.
Hmmmm... Eliot hasn't posted in awhile.......
Time for a call to the rip track/mobile unit for rerailing if available, if not contact Hulcher Services or Cranemasters.

There's no sunshine in an Ohio winter! Do you blame the engineer?
Don
Wow, that's pretty serious. Call out the FRA, DEQ, evacuate the neighborhood and do drug testing on the crew.
The weather has been really cold there. Wondering if the derailment was caused by ice build-up on a grade crossing.
This story is full of journalistic / grammatical errors.
Even the graphic over the anchor's shoulder is totally wrong .... it shows mass transit / subway cars.
As Rich has said many times before and I totally agree with ....
Journalism Is Dead !!!
Been down this road a few times. They are not going to drive this one back on. Time for the hook.
Pretty strange paint job for a NS locomotive.....

Wow. Another oil train derailment. This is not good.
Union Pacific in PA? What is the world coming too?

Not uncommon. You can always find one or two in Enola Yard all the time.

Methinks someone should Photoshop a third rail into the pic, around the left side of the plow.
Wow, that's too close to home! How dare that foreign engine derail in Sharon! Was the hazmat team called in. What about the fish habitat in the Shenango River? I had better contact my congressman. I'm sure glad I know him personally. He will get some action!! I guess the Youngstown news wanted to keep up with the West Virginians!
Of course all my comments are said facetiously! It is what I call a 'non-event'. Thanks for posting Rich! We are with you!
I'm pretty sure Reyer's is running a sale on work boots all month long.
Does OGR have a reporter on the scene ?? Jus down the road.

LOL.
Or hip-waders!

No wonder it derailed. Look at Trainroomgary's pic. Those rails are spread much to far apart.

Looks like someone is trying to run O Gauge on standard gauge track. My question is, how is the headlight still on with an obvious dead short between the rails?
Tom
I saw a program called most shocking.I truckdriver in la was driving a atuocarrier. That had restored sportscars. He tried to beat a up fast frieight.Train hit the truck all those sportcars were destoryed. All it did to the locomotive was bent the handrails. The locomotive front wheel was off. They didn,t even call for a crane. They got the locomotive back on track and the train went on it way.I have a caussin retired now who was a truck driver.Tolded me that driver will never work for a big truckin company. That company will insurance won,t cover him.
Let's take a moment to think about the Mechanical Department employees who had to drive out and re-rail the engine by, first, digging the snow out from around the derailed wheels and setting blocks, and then, two, having the Engineer inch it up on blocks and frogging it back onto the rail.
And another moment for the Track personnel who had to spike the rail back into gauge, perhaps also replacing a tie or two in the ice and snow.
I'll award all of them ten merits, even though it's their job. (Unless they complained, in which case the merits would be removed for whining. No merits for whiners.)
Meanwhile in other news, someone got a flat tire on Route 22. Traffic slowed down to 70 while curious motorists strained to get a glance of the issue with the tire. Thankfully, no lanes had to be closed, and there was minimal delay of the evening commute.
Since they ran the mobsters out, the news has dried up so that was the biggest news since the groundhog saw his shadow.
Wow, I was on the edge of my seat, just like when I watched Unstoppable.
