Before you get too excited, the title of this thread is meant to be sarcastic.

CLICK HERE TO SEE THE MASSIVE DERAILMENT!

One truck of a single locomotive derails and it's front page news. Must be a slow news day around here.

Wow, that's too close to home!  How dare that foreign engine derail in Sharon!  Was the hazmat team called in.  What about the fish habitat in the Shenango River?  I had better contact my congressman.  I'm sure glad I know him personally.  He will get some action!! I guess the Youngstown news wanted to keep up with the West Virginians!

Of course all my comments are said facetiously!  It is what I call a 'non-event'.  Thanks for posting Rich!  We are with you!

Methinks someone should Photoshop a third rail into the pic, around the left side of the plow.

Looks like someone is trying to run O Gauge on standard gauge track.  My question is, how is the headlight still on with an obvious dead short between the rails?

Tom

I saw a program called most shocking.I truckdriver in la was driving a atuocarrier. That had restored sportscars. He tried to beat a up fast frieight.Train hit the truck all those sportcars were destoryed. All it did to the locomotive was bent the handrails. The locomotive  front wheel was off. They didn,t even call for a crane. They got the locomotive back on track and the train went on it way.I have a caussin retired now who was a truck driver.Tolded me that driver will never work for a big truckin company. That company will insurance won,t cover him.

Let's take a moment to think about the Mechanical Department employees who had to drive out and re-rail the engine by, first, digging the snow out from around the derailed wheels and setting blocks, and then, two, having the Engineer inch it up on blocks and frogging it back onto the rail.

And another moment for the Track personnel who had to spike the rail back into gauge, perhaps also replacing a tie or two in the ice and snow.

I'll award all of them ten merits, even though it's their job.  (Unless they complained, in which case the merits would be removed for whining.  No merits for whiners.)
